Swear Box

Swear Box is an 18+ dark-humour word-building party game where players create the funniest, filthiest, or most cursed answer to a prompt.

Every player gets a hand of 12 word cards. Yellow cards are harmless, everyday words. Black cards contain very strong, taboo, or offensive words. Each round, one player acts as the judge while everyone else uses up to 6 cards to build an answer. The judge reads the answers out loud, picks their favourite, and awards the prompt card as a trophy.

Describe what Dad used to do to make you laugh as a kid, invent a title for an adult movie, or explain how you really feel about Nickelback.

The result is part word game, part party game, part “I cannot believe you just said that out loud.”

How it works

Judge: One player sits out and judges the round.

Prompt: The judge draws a prompt card.

Build: Everyone else creates an answer using up to 6 cards from their hand.

Reveal: The judge reads the answers out loud.

Winner: The judge picks their favourite answer and gives that player the prompt card as a trophy.

Next round: The winner becomes the next judge.

Game end: After 8 rounds, whoever has collected the most prompt cards wins.

More than just swearing

Swear Box also has a light hand-management twist. Instead of entering a round, you can burn/discard up to 6 cards from your hand, ditching awkward words and setting yourself up for better answers later.

There are also 6 numbered cards hidden in the deck. If you ever collect and play all 6 together, you instantly win by triggering the extremely stupid Steven Seagal Rule.

Who is this for?

You’ll probably like Swear Box if you enjoy offensive party games, dark humour, filthy word-building, making your friends read awful sentences out loud, and games that get worse as the night goes on.

You should probably avoid it if you dislike strong profanity, sexual humour, taboo words, dark jokes, offensive combinations, or games where the humour comes from crossing lines.

Swear Box contains very strong language, sexual references, violent references, and taboo subject matter.

It is not for children, family game night, work events, or people who dislike dark humour. It is designed for adult groups who already enjoy offensive party games and know where their own line is.

The game is built around profanity, taboo humour, and horrible combinations rather than hate speech — but it is still very rude.

House rule: before playing, remove any cards your group does not want in the game. No explanation needed. The goal is to make the table laugh, not kill the mood.
